1. Sign up — and confirm you're 18+
Head to GirlfriendGPT (or grab the Android/iOS app) and create an account. GirlfriendGPT is an adults-only service, so you'll confirm you're at least 18. Everything you do here is with fictional adult companions — that's the foundation of using the platform responsibly.
2. Pick a companion from the marketplace
This is the fun part. With 37,000+ creator characters, the fastest start is to browse the marketplace rather than build from scratch. Filter by personality and vibe, open a few profiles, and pick one that's close to what you want. Both AI girlfriends and AI boyfriends are available as equals. You can always fine-tune later, so don't overthink the first pick.
3. Set personality and tone
Once you've chosen a companion, adjust the personality traits and conversational style to taste. If you'd rather build your own, the character creator lets you define traits, backstory and tone from a blank slate. Start a chat and send a few honest messages — the companion's emotional calibration will start matching your energy within the first exchanges.
Tip: be specific early. Mention your name, what you do, and what you're into. The memory system will hold onto these and reference them later.
4. Turn on (and feed) memory
GirlfriendGPT's standout is multi-turn memory — recall up to roughly 8K tokens. To get the most from it, share details deliberately and revisit them. The more consistent context you give, the more your companion feels continuous across days. Our memory explainer goes deeper on this.
5. Try voice, video and Story Mode
On paid tiers you can hear voice replies, generate a 10-second video clip with audio (20 coins each, Deluxe/Elite), and run guided scenes in Story Mode. Try each once to see what fits your style — many people settle into one or two favorites rather than using everything constantly.
6. Decide on a plan
Start on the free tier to feel out the personality. If voice and video click, Deluxe (~$30–35/mo) is the real entry point — it unlocks the full multimodal stack and 8K memory. Heavy users go Elite (~$50/mo). Annual billing can save up to ~34%. See our full pricing breakdown first.
